Tannin Filters

Tannins can effectively be removed using an organic scavenging Tannin Anion Resin. 

In order to be effective, all iron, sulphur, and hardness must be removed prior to the tannin filter.

Tannin filters use salt to regenerate the resin bed just like a water softener. However, there is no exact formula to figure out capacity of the system. Most tannin filters will be set to regenerate every 3-5 days.

If your water is softened and no trace of iron, but you still notice a slight yellow tinge when you fill up a bathtub, you may have tannins in your water.

Tannin removal may be for aesthetics only, or you may have more complicated tannins that do not present themselves in cold water, but break apart in warm water or when bleach is added to your laundry, causing staining.
