Water Softeners

Almost all rural residential wells in the Cold Lake area contain hard water. However, every water well is different. You will need an accurate analysis to accurately determine if you need a Water Softener and what size you will need. 

 Some of the signs that indicate you have hard water include

- Build up white / light brown material on your facet aerators 

- Spots on dishes / white film in your dishwasher

- film and haze on your flooring after scrubbing with a fresh pail of water. 

Most of the water wells that ARCA has tested in the Cold Lake and Bonnyville area has been around 20 - 35 GPG, which is considered very hard. If left untreated, hardness in this range can ruin appliances and hot water heaters within several months. 

Deciding to buy a Water Softener:

If your water test reveals above 7 gpg of hardness, you should consider a water softener. Generally speaking, all groundwater is hard.
